Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Clear technical answers regarding electric vehicle operation, battery health, charging infrastructure, and high-voltage safety in Belgium.

1. What is EV Battery State of Health (SoH)?

SoH represents the percentage of usable storage capacity remaining compared to the original factory rating ($100\%$). An automotive battery pack is generally considered to reach its end of automotive first-life when SoH drops below $70\%-80\%$.

2. Can I perform DIY work on my EV's high-voltage system?

Strictly no. Orange cables and energized components (400V to 800V DC) carry lethal electrocution hazards. Any measurement or manipulation requires certified B2V / B2VL technician qualifications under NBN EN 50110 safety standards.

AC charging (alternating current, 3.7 kW to 22 kW) utilizes the vehicle's On-Board Charger (OBC). DC fast charging (direct current, 50 kW to 350 kW) feeds energy directly into the battery pack, bypassing the OBC. Excessive DC charging can accelerate SEI layer degradation.

In Belgium, home chargers must include 6mA DC residual current protection (via Type B RCD or Type A + RDC-DD). Installations must be certified by an accredited inspection body (e.g. Vinçotte) and notified to the DSO (Synergrid C10/11).

Electric vehicles are on average 20% to 30% heavier due to battery pack mass. Additionally, electric motors deliver maximum torque instantaneously (0 RPM), subjecting tire tread compounds to high shear stress during acceleration.

6. How can I submit an OBD-II log file for analysis?

Extract telemetry data using a compatible app (e.g. ScanMyTesla, Car Scanner) and upload the CSV/JSON file via our contact form. Our engineers will generate a detailed SoH evaluation report within 24 business hours.
