HVAC, Heat Pump & POE Compressor Oil

Diagnosing Octovalve expansion valves, R1234yf refrigerant, and mandatory non-conductive POE oil rules.

HVAC & Battery Thermal Regulation

EV air conditioning systems cool both the passenger cabin and the high-voltage battery pack (chiller) during fast DC charging sessions.

Critical Compressor Oil Safety Rule:

  • Mandatory Non-Conductive POE Oil: Only non-conductive synthetic POE (Polyolester) oil may be used. Standard PAG oil causes internal high-voltage short circuits (>400V) that destroy the electric compressor.
  • R1234yf Leak Detection: Checking front condenser and chiller evaporator loop seals for refrigerant leaks.
  • Multi-Port Valve Testing: Servomotor testing on thermal management direction valves (e.g. Octovalve).
