Emergency HV Isolation & Towing Guidelines
Crash-damaged vehicle lockout protocols, thermal runaway containment, and flatbed towing rules.
Emergency Protocols & EV Breakdown Safety
Following collision, severe underbody impact, or flood events, strict safety protocols prevent high-voltage arcing or thermal runaway fire hazards.
Emergency Protocols:
- Mandatory Flatbed Towing: Never tow an EV with drive wheels on the ground (permanent magnet motor rotation generates high voltage back-feed destroying the inverter).
- First Responder Loop Cut: Severing the 12V emergency cut-loop marked with bright tags to force main HV contactors open.
- Thermal Camera Monitoring: Monitoring battery pack temperature for 24 hours post-collision to detect latent thermal runaway.
